Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented narrative style where non-violent answers are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used the foes for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the group enter locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his salvation and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The healer betrayed the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This results in them no alternative but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
